PRAISE THE LORD!

I have been reading through the Psalms lately and God has been showing me how much he desires our praises! There is something so beautiful about devoting time to just praising God because it takes the focus off of us and off of the nitty gritty day in and day out tasks and hardships of life. I may be going through a horrible time but if I just stop and PRAISE THE LORD, I am filled with more peace than if I were to beg him for peace. Think of how much we LOVE getting compliments from each other. When someone tells us you look beautiful, or I love your heart, or you are so good at encouraging...fill in the blank...it brightens our day! Our LORD is soooo much more deserving and worthy of being praised and adored! Listen to these Psalms...

Psalm 148
"Praise the LORD
Praise the LORD from the heavens, praise him in the heights above.
praise him, all his angels, praise him all his heavenly hosts.
Praise him, sun and moon, praise him all you shining stars.
Praise him, you highest heavens and you waters above the skies.
Let them praise the name of the LORD for he commanded and they were created.
He set them in place for ever and ever; he gave a decree that will never pass away.
Praise the LORD from the earth, you great sea creatures and all the ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds, stormy winds that do his bidding, you mountains and all hills, fruit trees and all cedars, wild animals and all cattle, small creatures and flying birds, kings of the earth and all nations, you princes and all rulers on earth, young men and maidens, old men and children.

Let them praise the name of the LORD, for his name alone is exalted; his splendor is above the earth and the heavens.
He has raised up for his people a horn, the praise of all his saints, of Israel, the people close to his heart.
Praise the LORD."

Psalm 150
"Praise the LORD.

Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.
Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.
Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the strings and flute,
praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with the resounding cymbals.

Let everything that has breath praise the LORD.

Praise the LORD."

WOW!!! If ever there was doubt in my mind that we are to Praise the LORD, it is gone after reading just TWO psalms. They are all filled with words of praise to our God! So beautiful! Praise the Lord! Amen!

  4. Thank you Megs for reminding me of this sweet tip ;) it is so true! It is so much better to praise the Lord than to ask Him for things that we think make us feel better.

    Lord, we love you SO much and desire to spend all our days in worship of your greatness. Let us never cease to praise you forever and ever. I pray we would be reminded that that is why we are here to bring you praise. You alone are worthy of it all. Let our lips speak of your praise and your glory and honor and power forever. Amen.
